During our initial meeting, I’ll assess how you walk, move, and transition between positions. This helps identify specific strength, balance, and flexibility needs.

Experience You Can Trust

I’ve built At Home Health and Wellness on a foundation of over 25 years in physical therapy, health, and fitness. Working in a variety of settings has given me valuable insight into helping clients regain mobility, strength, and confidence.

Beyond therapy, my background includes teaching aerobics, yoga, and personal training. Staying up to date with the latest techniques is a priority, and I regularly participate in continuing education to provide the best possible care.

My experience includes working with orthopedic conditions like total knee replacements, as well as neurological conditions such as strokes and Parkinson’s disease.

Many clients also face challenges with balance, strength, and mobility, and together, we create a plan to help them safely return to the activities they love.

Questions About In-Home Therapy Answered

  • No, I don’t. Let me give you a couple of reasons why.

You as a client can get started with your home therapy visits right away. There is no delay due to waiting for insurance to authorize visits.

You can also have flexibility with scheduling visits and can have as many visits as you would like.

  • Most clients like to start with 2 visits a week to establish consistency with their home program. Some clients like 3 visits a week to get a good kick start, and some people have 1 visit per week.

  • No. We will decide together a range of visits necessary to accomplish your personal goals. I will help guide you based upon your weekly accomplishments and your needs. Some clients stay on with me for long durations to stay motivated and accountable to their exercise routine.

  • Yes, weekends are an option that is open to help you get the number of visits in per week that you need.

A Personal Touch

I see physical rehabilitation as my “love gift”—an offering that helps restore movement and function, improving the quality of your life.

Your concerns and needs will always be heard. We will work together to set meaningful goals that align with what’s most important to you.

Tangible solutions are at the heart of my approach, whether it’s improving balance, strength, flexibility, or the way you move through daily life.

With a personalized plan tailored to your needs, we will focus on restoring natural movement patterns and refining the way you walk.

A well-balanced home program will be designed based on our initial meeting, with goals adjusted as you progress. Encouragement and support will be constant, keeping you motivated every step of the way.

True healing happens on multiple levels—physical, mental, and spiritual. If desired, our work together can incorporate all three, helping you regain not just movement, but confidence and a sense of wholeness.

Dolly had a misdiagnosed ankle fracture when we first met and started therapy together. She was non-weight-bearing with a boot in place which her doctor prescribed. She subsequently had a surgical repair and went to an outpatient clinic for physical therapy. Dolly was dissatisfied with her therapy due to the lack of results she was achieving and called me in for home PT. She wanted one-on-one sessions with me. With the first home visit Lori educated Dolly about proper gait mechanics and as Dolly applied the lessons was able to improve her gait pattern successfully immediately! Dolly stated that she gained more knowledge and assistance with one visit with Lori than she had in several visits with outpatient therapy.

“Lori has been a valuable and effective help for my husband’s recovery. She is professional, approachable, and knowledgeable. Her techniques are designed for each individual and are highly effective. I think that mainly; she cares, inspires and possesses the knowledge to accomplish each patient’s goals. Her approach is that of a caring friend as much as a highly trained professional. I would happily recommend her to any of our friends.”

- Sandie Ellis -

“Lori takes pains not to let you feel sorry for yourself. A very “you can do it and I can help you “ attitude. I feel very lucky to have found Lori. I have gone from a timid and reluctant participant to my own cheerleader. My hesitation and fear have flown out the window. I love the new feeling of confidence since I started working with Lori.”

- Paula Hamilton -

“Rudi is a hundred year old client of Lori’s. He has been in a wheelchair for a number of years now. When Lori first met Rudi he said “I’m too weak to get out of my wheelchair!” to which Lori said “let’s just try”. Lori has many methods she uses in her practice. For Rudi, she started out gently; using wide rubber bands, stretching Rudi’s legs, building up his muscles. Then she added weights to the practice; plus other exercises and practices. She now has Rudi STANDING by himself, holding onto the counter. Lori has a special way with her clients. She cares deeply about each person and individualizes each client’s routine. Rudi looks forward to Lori’s visits, twice a week for one hour each session. Rudi is now able to walk down our long front porch and back 5 or 6 times with his walker. If you are lucky enough to get Lori Nissen as your physical therapist, grab her and consider yourself fortunate indeed!”
